Expeditions - This is for real

The Operation

Our goal is to be on the low-end price range with the high-end experience. Delivering best value liveboarding in Indonesia through an all eco concept.

We don’t aim for luxury but high quality diving in the comfort of one of
Asia’s most charismatic liveaboards.

Our long time diving in Komodo gives us a sound knowledge off the diving currents and slack tide times and we will plan the trip around these so you will get the most out of every diving day.

Beside world class diving you will also make interesting land tours with
dragon safari and trek through the prehistoric hills of komodo, and Rinca.
Our philosophy is to create an as environmentally friendly liveaboard
operation as possible, both buy minimising our emissions, maximising
recycling, and promoting and helping environmental projects.

10% of our yearly profit will go to environmental projects. Read more on the environment link.

We also offer Jaya for charter of self cost price for selected
Environmental and research missions.

Sulawesi - Wakatobi- Banda - Raja ampat (West Papua) Oct 09

Thailand-Indonesia 30 days start 5th of april 09

This is the dream expedition for all underwater lovers. We will explore some of the most remote and exotic dive destinations of Indonesia.
After 5 seasons of live boarding in Lombok, Komodo and Sulawesi we have become something of experts of these areas, now we want to explore the beyond.
This trip have a quite high adventure factor we will go to places we never been before and The schedule will be adjusted during the trip. We will also cover some big distances with open sea crossings so this is nothing for the normal charter tourist.
The life aboard is simple, and to keep the price down all the guests will have part as crew as well. No sailing experience needed, but need diving skill “advanced” or equal.

Discover Indonesia on the Jaya Expedition -09

30 days of discovering the unknown paradises of Indonesia. We will start from Batam (next to Singapore) and travel 2000 nautic miles threw some of Asias wildest and most pristine areas. The trip is dive orientated but also holds a range of other activities.
The Diving also get better and more exotic the deeper in to the heart of Indonesian we get. The first two weeks is less diving and more land tour oriented like Orangutan safari in Borneo, but we will off course have time to do some diving in-between,
This trip is a real adventure and even thought we done the same track 8 times before we know by experience that it can not be planed in detail, and that it will be a lot of improvising, so rather than doing a day to day schedule we set up some main goals witch we try to reach.
Everybody aboard takes an active part aboard both for convenience but also to get activated the days we spending traveling. This is a great opportunity to learn more about navigation, sailing, boat handling and dive planning. There will be a few of those so bring some good books and you’re softest mood.
This is a trip of a lifetime; you will get friends for life and get in to traveling beyond backpacking.

The Diving.
You don’t need to be an experienced diver when you start but for sure you will be one at the end.
Together with the dive master you will learn to plan exploratory diving. We dive threw a wide range of areas with different characteristics like wreck diving in karimun java and current diving in Komodo.

The route

Starting from batam with 2 days sailing over open sea, heading for the Turle islands  of Badas. Never visited by tourists before we first came here 4 years ago.
This is one of the hatching grounds of leatherbacks, and the waters usually is full of them. They are quite shy so the biggest time we have to spend time with them is snorkeling. The hawksbills are not as shy and usually get much closer.
Ashore we find an interesting village live-in only of collecting turtle eggs, they keep it sustainable by leaving 50% of the eggs and securing their way to the water from birds and other predators.

Borneo

Here we visit a Orangutang rehabilitation center, where they bringing captured orangutangs back to their natural environment.
We also do a 3 day river tour aboard small river boats looking for wild orangutangs and other large primates.

Karimun java
In the middle of java sea we find this lost paradise. The Kura-kura resort located on  one of the small islands is owed by an exotic Swedish Gentleman called Siren Lax. After over a week at sea its a nice break so swim in the pool eat some meatballs with mashed potatoes and drink chilled cocktails.
We stay a couple of days in the areas looking for wreck. This is one of the wreck densest areas of asia due to its location and many reef systems. For the Last 30 years treasure hunters have been searching these waters salvaging huge amounts of Chinese porcelains from the Ming dynasty.

Kangean.
Very isolated small group of islands you can’t get to if you don’t have you’re own boat. Here we will do exploration diving, and we could find anything from boomed reefs to perfect drop-offs.

Lombok
Stopping at Gilis for a couple of days, eating in great restaurants, party and go diving at the local spots.

Moyo
Here the diving start to reach world class.. we also visit satondas water filled lake crater that have a unique ecosystem only found here on the planet.

Sangean
Diving on an active volcano with bubbling bottom and the most psycadelich corals in the world. Maybe my favorite dive on the planet.

Komodo
we go on a guided dragon safari threw the prehistoric hills of Komodo and Rinca.
The hills also hosts wild horses, boars and kakaduas.
Komodo have in our opinion the best diving in Asia at the moment.
Strong currents (up to 8 knots) roar threw the straights bringing nutrient water from the south and creating an unique environment.
The reef is loaded with everything from pygmy seahorses, mandarin fish, blue ringed octopus and sea apples to Mantas, sunfish, hammerhead and lately we event been spotting dolphins one the dive sights.

Bonerate
Of the track again Bonerate  still have a lot of diving to discover this is the worlds 3rd biggest atoll. The diving we done so far in this area have been disappointing on the reef area with a lot of bombed damaged reefs.
So this area is more for the big fish.. often we see schooling mobulas, hammerheads and dogtooth tuna.
Selayar have some of the most beautiful untouched beaches you will ever see.

Bira Sulawesi
Here the journey ends but not until we done some diving at the notorious cape Bira one of the hardest dives in Asia. We also do some land tours in the homeland of the bugis pirates. Where our bugis crew also comes from.
